Doc's Crocks


Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Advertising Stoneware Matchsafe made for the American Brewery Co., Rochester, N.Y.

It was made by the Whites Pottery of Utica, N.Y.  between 1890 and 1907 when Whites made finely molded stoneware. 

This beauty features a Shield with the Company Name at the Top and a Detailed Eagle Carrying a Branch on Each Side . The impressed decoration is washed in cobalt for accentl. The background is a diamond weave pattern for ease in striking matches, with molded top and bottom borders incorporating cobalt stripes. Measures 4 1/2" tall and 6 1/2" across the base. 

Excellent Condition.  A 3/8" chip inside the rim (closeup), and small 3/8" stain on one side.  That's it!  No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
