Missouri Plain Folk

Tim Chambers

Early 19th century trencher in original red wash.  Possibly Indiana or Ohio.  This is a larger trencher with thicker sides.  It measures 22 1/2" end to end and 12 1/2" wide.  This hand hewn bowl measures a full 6" deep.  A 'V' shaped notch in one end appears to be original to the piece.  It was likely where a knot was removed from the wood.  The trencher has a wonderful soft feel to the touch from a hundred plus years of use.   Its patina is second to none.
