Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Little 1 Gallon Preserve Jar marked "Cortland."
This is the work of Madison Woodruff who ran the pottery in Cortland from 1849-1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 71).
This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Freehand Lily with Eight Petals. Brilliant Cobalt Blue! Stands 9" tall.
Very Good Condition. Chips around the inner rim where a lid would sit, a 1/4" chip on the rim and base, and a hairline left to right across the bottom only partially seen inside, coming up each side 1". No stains or restoration.
A very appealing Woodruff jar that will brighten most any shelf in your display!
