Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Jug in a Beehive Form.
The floral makes it easy to attribute this jug to Nathan Clark, Jr. of Athens, N.Y. who ran the family pottery from 1843-1891 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 66).
This beauty sports a Squatty Beehive Form and a Bright Brushed Cobalt Tulip with 4 Leaves and a blossom with 4 Petals. Stands 9 1/4" tall.
This squatty form made this jug useful in wagons and sleighs because it would not tip over.
Excellent Condition. Some staining on the bottom of the right side. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. A 1/4" surface-only drying line on the top of the spout in the back, and a dime-sized stone ping on the right side near the bottom--both in the making.
